A group of retired US AIR FORCE officers and enlisted personnel have stepped forward today, September, 27, 2010, to announce UFO's have been monitoring and/or interfering with the American, British, and the nuke weapons of other countries! You can do a search in Google news for a variety of articles on the topic.
If this is occurring, I think the following motives could be possible:
Note: I disregard as unlikely the possibility that they just care about us for no selfish reason. I just don't buy the "guardian angel" hypothesis! I also don't think they're trying to set off the weapons either. If so, they're not very technically competent - yet they've managed to transverse great spans of space/time to get to Earth?!
My theories for ET nuclear weapon tinkering:
1. We're their experiment in genetics/evolution, and they're not ready to end the experiment prematurely (or allow us to destroy ourselves).
2. Earth is a precious life planet (which they may own), and they don't want it irradiated because it has plants/animals/resources/trade or military bases etc., that they don't want glowing as they need them.
3. They're us from the future, so they're monkeying with the past to stop us from destroying or negatively impacting their civilization in our future.
4. They're experimenting with deactivating the weapons as a prelude to invasion. Perhaps. However, I usually tend to discount the whole "Independence Day" theories as travelers with the tech to space/time travel would be at least as far ahead of us (and our weapons) as we would from the Australian Aborigine. It would just be too easy to hang out in cloaked space or behind the moon and design computer and/or biologically targeted viruses etc., and destroy us without we Terrans firing even one shot. I mean, how hard would it be for a flight of USAF jets to wipe out an unsuspecting primitive village without taking even one American casualty?
5. Nuclear weapons represent a threat to the time/space continuum and/or the magnetic field of the Earth that the Alien ships are reputed to use in navigation and propulsion.
What do you think?

Judge Orders Gay Officer Reinstated
The U.S. military violated the constitutional rights of decorated Air Force Reserve flight nurse, Maj. Margaret Witt, when it discharged her under the "don't ask, don't tell" ban on gays in the armed forces, a federal judge said Friday, September 24, 2010 in ordering her reinstatement.
The judge did the wrong thing for the right reasons. Of course, gays should have a right to serve their nation in war and in peace as they have (in secret) throughout the history of the US. However, judicial activism is an end-run around the legislative and executive bodies of our government that is being used too frequently. Undermining the delicate balance of our republic during the present economic chaos and in war time is an unacceptable risk. Unfortunately, I think the greater good will only be achieved when the electorate of this country uses their constitutional power to force their legislators to right the current discriminatory policies against gays in the military.

Earth Will Never Colonize Mars!
Whenever I watch a Discovery Channel program discussing the possibility of a permanent Terran colony on Mars, I always go nuts! Why? Because there are a number of very good reasons that Mars is presently classified as a "dead planet" (excluding possible deep soil extremeophile bacteria or other simple life forms, of course).
Yes, I'm aware that we already know how to warm up a planet using greenhouse gases like methane, carbon dioxide etc. Of course, such a process would require a century or two and the expenditure of trillions of dollars (at $10,000+ a pound) to heat up the Red Planet. However, even an artificially warmed Mars is still a DEATH TRAP for at least two of the following reasons:
1. Mars has no magnetosphere because the core cooled billions of year ago. As a result, the poor world lost it's atmosphere in the distant past due to repeated solar storms, CME's (Coronal Mass Ejections), etc. A colony on Mars would have to frequently retreat to deep underground caverns to be protected from solar storms and the accompanying radiation. In addition, the terraforming process would never really ever be done as the atmosphere would be continually venting into space on a regular basis during solar events. To me, it's like filling a balloon with a hole in it, or bailing a lifeboat with a gash in the keel. Visiting astronauts could handle solar storms with the proper preparation, vigilance, and Earth-based assistance. On the other hand, a major CME impacting upon a human civilization on unprotected Mars would be disastrous.
2. Mars does not have a large moon to help stabilize it's axial tilt as the lucky Earth does. Over millions of years the axis of Mars shifts chaotically. Any long term colonization effort would certainly be catastrophically effected by the unpredictable axial movements. Imagine the mega tsunamis, earthquakes, windstorms, weather changes etc., that a warm, wet Mars would suffer in a 45 degree axial shift! Just a fraction of that shift here on Earth would most certainly be enough to obliterate our existing human society, if not the entire race. Short-term scientific bases could certainly afford to ignore this remote hazard, but not a long-term permanent Terran colony. Indeed, a Martian colony purported by people like Dr. Chris McKay to be our ultimate species diversification effort could not afford to overlook such a serious hazard!
The unfortunate reality is simple. Mars is merely the best of the three very unsuitable inner solar system planets, currently within our range of technology. Bankrupting the Earth, however, to plant a permanent Terran civilization on Mars is like forcing yourself to chose the best-looking woman at a single's party for never married woman in their 50's and 60's. It's not going to be pretty no matter who (or what) you select! Personally, my advice would be to stay single and wait for a better opportunity.
I'm all for the exploration of space. However, we need to understand that the Earth is the creator and the ultimate custodial parent of our race for the conceivable present and future. We can visit with manned craft our fellow worlds like Mercury, Venus, and Mars if we have the will, but we'll always be only unexpected guests dropping by to say a quick hello. Of course our technology is quickly developing, but how advanced will we have to become to create an entire planetary magnetic field and fabricate a Moon-sized body in the proper orbit? Unfortunately, there just is no realistic second home within our solar system.
Until the development of a Star Trek level of cheap, faster-than-light travel or other similar sci-fi high tech advance that can take us to other stellar systems, our race is stuck on this blue-green ball. We need to focus on the business of staying alive here for the long haul, rather than looking for ways to skip out on the mess we've created.

Idiots Collecting State Quarters!
I recently heard that about 160 million misguided Americans have wasted their time and money collecting the completely worthless so-called "state quarters"!
It is my hope that this article will enlighten the readers to realize their mistake in purchasing the US State Quarters, and invest their scarce monetary resources instead in an infinitely wiser capacity.
Now, I don't have a problem with some grandmother buying a map of the US with places for each of the 50 quarters. Heck, that sounds like a good geography lesson for some grandkid for about $30. No, my problem lies with the stacks of bricks that amateur "collectors" are buying in some misguided attempt at making an investment for the future.
There are only 2 factors that increase the value of coins over a period of years, and the state quarter possesses NEITHER of these qualities.
1. The coins should be made from precious metals like gold or silver. The state quarter like all quarters made for circulation since 1965 are made from 92% copper and 8% nickel, or worthless base metals. Yes, the "proof" versions do indeed contain 90% silver, but are so severely overpriced that realizing any future profit from them is highly unlikely.
2. The coins must be rare. To date there have been $34 billion worth of these quarters minted for circulation, making them one of the highest minted coins in the history of the world! A thousand years from now archaeologists will be throwing these things away as ubiquitous and bothersome relics, more closely akin to beer flip tabs than valuable relics!
What should you do if you have a hoard of these valueless slugs? Either pay your utility, grocery, or tolls with them, or go to your neighborhood bank and exchange these cheap con items in for paper folding money ASAP. Then buy as much 90% junk silver coins dating 1964 and prior (dimes, quarters, halves) as you can. Check out www.coinflation.com to see the going rate prices for these coins based on the value per ounce of silver. These coins are made from 90% valuable silver, and after the infamous Great Melt of 1980 there are no more than a total of $500 million (face value) still in existence today (compare that with $34 billion in state quarters alone that are loitering about the country at this moment)!
Time is running out fast! Hyperinflation seems unavoidable as fiat paper money is being printed as fast as the US presses can run. To protect your wealth and your family, buy gold and silver now from these top companies, APMEX Gold and Silver and Silver American Eagles.
